Founded in 2022 by a CofC alum, the Mount Pleasant-based brand has a growing national following
Emyvale Golf founder Maeve Gallivan
After two decades of frustration with ill-fitting, predictable women’s golf apparel, Maeve Gallivan decided to change the game. “Companies take men’s clothes and ‘shrink it and pink it’ for women,” she says. “I’m not okay with that.”
In 2022, the College of Charleston alum left her marketing job and launched Emyvale Golf, a performance-first brand designed by and for women golfers. Named for the Irish village where Gallivan spent childhood summers teeing off with her father, the Mount Pleasant–based brand blends heritage with bold aesthetics. “Charleston inspires me—the beautiful femininity of the apparel, the way women embrace bold colors, and of course, Rainbow Row,” she says.
Emyvale’s signature skirts channel a retro spirit in punchy, playful prints. Beneath the charm lies smart design: four hidden pockets stash tees, scorecards, and phones, while the fabric—woven in an Italian mill using regenerated thread—speaks to Gallivan’s commitment to sustainability. “Quality and craftsmanship matter. I didn’t want to create outfits women felt the need to change out of after their round.”
As the brand expands into wholesale, Gallivan remains rooted in her community; Emyvale partners with First Tee of Charleston, which aims to empower kids by teaching values and interpersonal skills.
With a growing national following and a new spring collection that debuted at the PGA Buying Summit in Texas, Gallivan hopes her impact reaches beyond the fairway. “If you feel confident stepping onto that first tee box, comfortable and excited about what you’re wearing, hopefully that keeps women coming back and helps grow the game.”
